my camera no longer recognizes my memory cards, the satellite signal continues to struggle, and the only way to respond to emails is to go through Yahoo Classic and wait forever for things to load. LCI is fighting back, conspiring to bring down my technology so that I play more and work less (not that work has happened with consistency to this point).
weather has been really nice: relatively cool, yet warm on the beach. bugs have been at a minimum. two rainy evenings and a moon half-full when not battling cloud cover. i ran into a giant pig on the beach last night right as i entered from the Katwalk. all i could make out under a cloud-covered half-moon was a silhouette, which i assumed was pig-filled. i went back in for the giant beam light, which i thought would startle the piggy into taking flight. not a chance! the pig didn't pull his snout from the sand until turtleboy and his atv could be heard rounding the bend off toward the lighthouse. i ran once the pig took off, afraid it might catch up to me, give chase, and gore my butt check or leg or big toe. turtleboy circled around where the pig was digging. so, i ventured back out with beam light and giant knife to inspect once t-boy left. all i found were pig tracks and, yes, CAT prints in the sand... i checked them out again this morning, as well as a second sighting near the lighthouse, which included the claw marks at the ends of each toe pad. pretty cool. then i walked around mostly naked, picked up olive shells and other beach treats, took a dip, and came back in to do work with BD and slam a cup of coffee. not bad...

cat hunting pig?

Not a cat. Retractable claws wouldn't register in the sand, and cat prints are usually wider than they are long. This looks like a canid - maybe a fox?
